Dis-eases tend to point to the region of the body that is governed by that particular chakra. This allows us to see where the energy is "stagnant". This energy is connected with our physical body through seven chakra centers. Chakras - chakra centers represent our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual growth. When these chakra centers are healthy and in balance, then we are the equivalent. Below is a brief description of each chakra.

The First Chakra is the base or root chakra, which is located at the base of the spine. The first chakra represents the Earth element. The root chakra spins at the slowest speed of the seven major chakras. Clairvoyants see the root chakra as the rich clear color red. When the root chakra becomes clogged with dense energy, it can be seen as a dark, muddy shade of red. The primary focus of the first chakra is survival. The root chakra relates to issues of safety, food, clothing, shelter, and finances.

The Second Chakra is the sacral chakra, which is located at the lower lumbar pelvis area. The second chakra represents the water element. The second chakra can be seen as the brilliant color orange. A distorted second chakra can be seen as a burnt-orange shade. This sacral chakra spins in a healthy manner when people are confident, joyous, creative, sexually alive, and orgasmic.

The Third Chakra is the solar-plexus center and is located above the navel and below the chest. The third chakra represents the fire element. The third chakra can be seen as the bright color yellow. When distorted, the third chakra can appear as a blackened yellow. This chakra spins in a healthy manner when people are responsible, self-assertive, and self-confident.

The Fourth Chakra is the heart chakra, which is the ruling chakra of the entire energy system. The heart chakra is located at the heart and it represents the air element. The heart chakra can be seen as the color emerald green. When distorted the color of the heart chakra may appear a dark green. This central chakra represents the beginning of the upper chakras and the spiritual related issues. The heart chakra spins in a healthy manner when people love themselves and others.

The Fifth Chakra is the throat chakra, which, of course, is located at the throat area. The fifth chakra represents the ether element. The fifth chakra can be seen as the color sky blue. The troat chakra is the color of an overcast sky when distorted. This chakra spins in a healthy manner when people are very creative.

The Sixth Chakra is the third eye chakra, which is located at the center of the forehead. The sixth chakra  is where the Cyclopes of Greek mythology were said to have their one, round eye. The third eye chakra represents the subtle element. The sixth chakra can be seen as the color indigo blue. When distorted, the sixth chakra is much darker. The third eye chakra is our inner and outer visual center. This chakra spins in a healthy manner when people use their imaginations, their tremendous capacity for new ideas and visualizations to reach into the future.

The Seventh Chakra is the crown chakra, located at the top of the head. The seventh chakra also represents the subtle element.  The seventh chakra can be seen as the vivid color violet, or it can become dark as the night sky when distorted. The seventh chakra  spins the fastest of the seven chakras. This chakra represents pure cosmic energy. The seventh chakra spins in a healthy manner when people are dynamic, responsible, and spiritually connected to the Divine.

Chakra History
The earliest known mention of chakras is found in the later Upanishads, including specifically the Brahma Upanishad and the Yogatattva Upanishad. These vedic models were adapted in Tibetan Buddhism as Vajrayana theory, and in the Tantric Shakta theory of chakras. It is the shakta theory of seven main chakras that most people in the West adhere to. The chakra ideas were later developed into what is predominant western view of the chakras by the Theosophists.

Many present day Indian gurus that incorporate chakras within their systems of philosophy do not appear to disagree with the western view of chakras on the key points, and both these eastern chakra views and western chakra views have developed from the Shakta Tantra school.

There are various other models of chakras in other traditions, notably in Chinese medicine, and in Tibetan Buddhism. Even in Jewish Kabbalah the different Sephiroth are sometimes associated with parts of the body. In Islamic Sufism, Lataif-e-Sitta -Six Subtleties - are considered as psychospiritual "organs" of sensory and suprasensory perception.

Attempts have been made to reconcile the systems with each other, and there are some successes, even between such diverged traditions as Shakta Tantra, Sufism and Kabbalism, where chakras, lataif and Sephiroth can seemingly represent the same archetypal spiritual concepts.
