Have An Attitude of Gratitude!
Gratitude Quote“If the only prayer you said were 'thank you,' that would be enough.” - Meister Eckhart
We seem to always want more. How often do we have strong opinions about what the fulfillment of our needs should look like? Opinions about the how, and when, and where of it? We ask, and ask, and then fret, afraid to wait in the unknown, rushing in to fill the gap with activity that misses the mark. Because we lack faith, and believe that we are separate from Creator and creation, we find ourselves trying to manipulate people, things, and events, trying to exercise control over matters that are often way beyond our province. If we could, we would probably try to con the Universe to get our way!
So it is for us to remember to count our blessings each day and remind ourselves to have an attidude of gratitude for what we already have.
Article on Gratitude
In our ordinary life, we are always coming under the dominion of the beliefs that we have inherited, beliefs that everyone else is thinking, or the beliefs we most entertain and hold dear. The more we give them our attention and fuel them with our desire, the more they become the blueprint of the reality we see before us.
As we heal and awaken, we discover another way. It slowly dawns on us that our needs are already met - in the present moment - in a dimension beyond our familiar time and space. But this Grace awaits our recognition and receptivity to move out from the stillness of pure potential, into lawful activity. What we identify with, what we are in alignment with, whatever vibration we match – comes to pass. What will we choose?
The Heart of GratitudeWhen we feel gratitude for our very existence, and gratitude for all the sustenance and maintenance that comes along with it – even before it appears – it puts us into resonance with the Power, Love, and Intelligence of the Universe. It opens a pathway for these qualities to pour through us into our world and be reflected back to us. It allows us to let go of the struggle of our resistance and cravings, and deeply rest. Gratitude is the great “Amen!” to life, a wholehearted embrace of what is and the multiple possibilities of what can be. It is a door to the unseen reality that we are a part.
We live and have our Being in a vibrational universe, and what shows up in our world mirrors the state of our consciousness. We don’t really get what we want, as much as we get what we BE. What shows up in our world can be a valuable reminder to be still, raise our vibration, and find resonance with different, life-giving patterns.
In our heart of hearts, what are we most resonating with? What are we most in alignment with? Where are we placing our attention?
Be still, and allow your attention to go wherever it is most needed. Allow it to dwell on this unfolding presence of Grace, on this magnificent, miraculous current of energy. Feel the flow of providential Life, and grow into the profound trust that is at the heart of Eckhart’s prayer: Let go, and trust in the Infinite Love, Awareness, and Power that we are.

"We return thanks to our mother, the earth, with sustains us. We return thanks to the rivers and streams, which supply us with water. We return thanks to all herbs, which furnish medicines for the cure of our diseases. We return thanks to the corn, and to her sisters, the beans and squash, which give us life. We return thanks to the bushes and trees, which provide us with fruit. We return thanks to the wind, which, moving the air, has banished diseases. We return thanks to the moon and the stars, which have given us their light when the sun was gone. We return thanks to our grandfather He-no, .., who has given to us his rain. We return thanks to the sun, that he has looked upon the earth with a beneficent eye. Lastly, we return thanks to the Great Spirit, in whom is embodied all goodness, and who directs all things for the good of his children."
